Configuring Delivery / Shipping Methods

Purpose of Delivery / Shipping Methods

The Delivery / Shipping Methods section in the Any.Rentals platform enables businesses to configure a variety of shipping and delivery options for both sales and rental items. These settings allow for tailored delivery solutions, ensuring cost-effectiveness, compliance with geographical restrictions, and enhanced customer satisfaction.

This feature is accessible via Admin Dashboard > Configuration > Sales & Rentals > Delivery / Shipping Methods.

Settings and Options Overview

1. Distance-Based (Rental Items Only)

This method calculates delivery or pickup costs based on distance.

• Enabled:

  • Purpose: Activates the Distance-Based shipping method.

• Allow $0 Delivery / Pickup:

  • Purpose: Allows delivery or pickup without additional charges.

• Title & Method Title:

  • Purpose: Specifies names displayed to customers for this shipping method.

• Pre Rental & Post Rental Buffer:

  • Purpose: Adds buffer times before and after rental periods for delivery or pickup scheduling.

• Auto-Select "Include Delivery":

  • Purpose: Automatically selects the delivery option during checkout.

• Distance Calculation:

  • Purpose: Configures how distances are calculated (e.g., direct distance or driving distance).

• Metric & Round Distance:

  • Purpose: Specifies measurement units (km/miles) and rounds distances for simplicity.

• Shipping Price:

  • Purpose: Determines the cost per distance unit.

• Minimum & Maximum Price:

  • Purpose: Sets boundaries for delivery pricing.

• Maximum Distance:

  • Purpose: Restricts delivery availability to a specified distance.
  • Above Maximum Distance Error Message:
    • Displays a custom error when a delivery exceeds the maximum distance.

• Free Shipping:

  • Enable Free Shipping: Activates free delivery for orders meeting a set minimum amount.

• Validate Address By UPS API:

  • Purpose: Ensures the provided address is valid.

• Countries & Sort Order:

  • Ship to Applicable Countries & Specific Countries: Restricts delivery to selected regions.
  • Sort Order: Determines the display position of this method.

2. Custom Price (Sale or Rental Items)

Allows custom pricing for shipping.

• Enabled:

  • Purpose: Activates this shipping method.

• Title & Method Name:

  • Purpose: Sets display names for the shipping method.

• Displayed Error Message:

  • Purpose: Customizes messages when shipping is unavailable.

• Countries & Sort Order:

  • Purpose: Defines applicable regions and display order.

3. Flat Rate (Sale or Rental Items)

Applies a fixed shipping cost.

• Enabled:

  • Purpose: Activates Flat Rate shipping.

• Title & Method Name:

  • Purpose: Sets names displayed to customers.

• Type:

  • Purpose: Configures pricing as per-item or per-order.

• Price:

  • Purpose: Specifies the flat shipping fee.

• Calculate Handling Fee:

  • Purpose: Adds an optional handling fee.

• Pre Rental & Post Rental Buffer:

  • Purpose: Adds buffer times around rental periods.

4. Free Shipping (Sale or Rental Items)

Provides free shipping for qualifying orders.

• Enabled:

  • Purpose: Activates Free Shipping.

• Title & Method Name:

  • Purpose: Sets display names for this method.

• Minimum Order Amount:

  • Purpose: Defines the threshold for free shipping eligibility.

5. UPS (Sale or Rental Items)

Integrates with UPS for real-time shipping calculations.

• Enabled for Checkout:

  • Purpose: Activates UPS shipping.

• Live Mode:

  • Purpose: Toggles between live and test environments.

• Title & Weight Unit:

  • Purpose: Configures display name and measurement units.

• Calculate Handling Fee:

  • Purpose: Adds handling charges to UPS rates.

• Maximum & Minimum Package Weight:

  • Purpose: Sets weight boundaries for shipments.

• Sort Order & Debug:

  • Purpose: Configures display order and debugging options.

6. USPS (Sale Items Only)

Integrates with USPS for shipping calculations.

• Enabled for Checkout:

  • Purpose: Activates USPS shipping.

• Gateway URL & Secure Gateway URL:

  • Purpose: Configures API endpoints.

• Allowed Methods:

  • Purpose: Specifies available shipping options.

• Calculate Handling Fee:

  • Purpose: Adds a handling charge to USPS rates.

7. FedEx (Sale Items Only)

Provides real-time FedEx shipping rates.

• Enabled for Checkout:

  • Purpose: Activates FedEx shipping.

• Title, Account ID, Meter Number, Key, & Password:

  • Purpose: Configures FedEx credentials.

• Sandbox Mode:

  • Purpose: Enables testing mode.

• Residential Delivery:

  • Purpose: Configures residential delivery options.
