Purpose of the Feature: Media Hub

The Media Hub in the Admin Dashboard serves as a centralized repository for all media assets used throughout the website. It allows administrators to organize, upload, and manage images, videos, and other files efficiently. The Media Hub is essential for:

  • Centralizing the storage of media assets for streamlined management.
  • Ensuring consistent use of branding assets across the website.
  • Supporting dynamic and visually engaging content by providing quick access to media.

Functions of the Media Hub

Adding a Media Folder

Organizing media assets into folders is crucial for easy access and management.

  1. Navigate to the Media Hub:

    • Log in to the Admin Dashboard.
    • Go to CMS > Media Hub.
  2. Click “Add New Folder”:

    • Locate the button labeled Add New Folder.
  3. Name the Folder:

    • Enter a descriptive name for the folder (e.g., “Product Images”, “Banners”).
    • Avoid using special characters or spaces.
  4. Set Folder Hierarchy (Optional):

    • If creating a subfolder, select the parent folder under which the new folder should reside.
  5. Save Folder:

    • Click Save Folder to finalize.

Adding a Media File

Uploading files ensures they are accessible for use across the website, including banners, product pages, and more.

  1. Navigate to the Desired Folder:

    • In the Media Hub, select the folder where the file will be uploaded.
  2. Click “Upload Media File”:

    • Locate the button labeled Upload Media File.
  3. Select a File:

    • Click Choose File to browse and select a media file from your local device.
    • Supported formats include JPG, PNG, GIF, MP4, and others as per system specifications.
  4. Add Metadata (Optional):

    • File Name: Rename the file for easy identification.
    • Alt Text: Add alternative text for accessibility and SEO.
    • Tags: Assign tags for quick search and categorization.
  5. Upload:

    • Click Upload File to complete the process.

Managing Existing Media Content

Efficient management ensures that outdated or redundant media files do not clutter the repository.

  1. View and Search:

    • Use the search bar to locate specific files or folders by name or tag.
    • Apply filters (e.g., file type, date uploaded) for targeted searches.
  2. Edit Media File Metadata:

    • Select a file and click Edit.
    • Update details like the file name, alt text, or tags.
    • Save changes to apply updates.
  3. Move Files:

    • Select one or more files.
    • Click Move to Folder and choose the destination folder.
  4. Delete Files or Folders:

    • Select the items to delete.
    • Click Delete and confirm the action.
    • Note: Deleting a folder will remove all its contents.
  5. Preview Media:

    • Click on a file to preview it in a larger view.
    • Verify the content before using it on the website.

Best Practices for Using the Media Hub

  1. Maintain a Clear Folder Structure:

    • Use descriptive folder names for organization (e.g., “Campaign Banners 2024”).
  2. Optimize Media Files:

    • Compress images and videos before uploading to reduce load times.
  3. Consistent Naming Conventions:

    • Use standard naming formats (e.g., “product_name_banner.jpg”) for easy identification.
  4. Leverage Metadata:

    • Add tags and alt text to improve accessibility and search functionality.
  5. Regular Cleanup:

    • Periodically review and delete unused or outdated files to free up storage.
